About Us

Our Mission

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Our Story & History

In November of 1997 our founders, Jerry Wood and Buddy Curtis, opened the Boys & Girls Club of Fauquier (BGCF) in Taylor Middle School. The mission is and was to help all boys and girls of all backgrounds, especially those who needed us the most to build confidence, develop character, and acquire the skills needed to become productive civic-minded, responsible adults.

With the help of the Town of Warrenton, the County of Fauquier, the Fauquier County public schools, and many dedicated individuals passionate about youth development, we were able to open the club. In late 2009, the club outgrew Taylor Middle School and moved to 169 Keith Street in Warrenton, where we stayed for 14 years.

In 2022, we celebrated 25 years of being a part of our community and celebrated the memory of Jerry Wood at Laurel Ridge Community College with Buddy Curtis, their families, community members, and our board/staff.

In 2023 we were looking for ways to better serve our members in their local communities. June of that year, BGCF was approved by Fauquier County Public Schools to start clubs in the middle schools. We are now in Taylor, Marshall, and Cedar Lee Middle School.

Why Support Us

Boys & Girls Clubs provide their local youth with a safe, constructive environment where they can learn and grow under the guidance of professionals. The staff, board, and volunteers encourage all of our members to strive for academic success, lead healthy lifestyles, and exhibit good character and citizenship. What is unique to the Boys & Girls Club organization is that each club offers programming based on their communities needs and interests.
