Club Nominated for Award at The Fauquier Chamber 31st Gala & Annual Meeting

Warrenton, Virginia—The Boys & Girls Club of Fauquier accepted the 2017 Nonprofit Business of the Year award at the annual Fauquier Chamber Gala & Annual Meeting on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Nominated along with three other community nonprofits, the Club was honored to receive the award.

“This is community validation of the progress we’ve made in general operations and our commitment to business excellence,” said John Nettles, chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of Fauquier Board of Directors. “We are so grateful that the business leaders in Fauquier recognize the work that we have done in establishing relevance and sustainability.”

Entering 2017 as a 5-person board, the Boys & Girls Club of Fauquier has grown rapidly over the past 11 months, increasing its board to 22 current directors. Through aggressive strategic planning, the Club has enhanced its programmatic offerings to provide additional resources beyond afterschool child care, covering all areas of childhood development through activities and programs that emphasize academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship.

“The last year to year and a half has been truly transformational in the services that we’ve been able to provide to our community through its children,” Club Executive Director Lynne Richman Bell explained. “This is reflective of an awesome team of board and staff. We continue our commitment to organizational excellence to honor and serve our community.”

Meanwhile, the Club is in its final phase of restructuring their business model and finalizing its strategic plan and anticipates reaching major organizational milestones in the coming year.

“In these next couple of months we will walk through the final steps in ensuring the Club’s service into the future,” said Bell.
